Allah-Las, California’s sensational rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
The band was formed in Los Angeles in 2008 by Matthew Correia (percussion), Spencer Dunham (bass), Miles Michaud (vocals, guitar), and Pedrum Siadatian (lead guitar). They wanted to name themselves after something that sounded holy so they chose Allah (Arabic for god). They said in an interview, “We get emails from Muslims, here in the US and around the world, saying they’re offended, but that absolutely wasn’t our intention. We email back and explain why we chose the name and mainly they understand. We’ve had the name so long I don’t think we can change it. That wouldn’t work. We don’t dwell. You know, no regrets.” Their musical style can be best described as a blend of garage rock (a raw and energetic style of rock and roll deriving from the perception that groups were often made up of young amateurs who rehearsed in the family garage, although many were professional), psychedelic rock (a style of rock music - inspired or influenced by psychedelic culture - that attempts to replicate and enhance the mind altering experiences of psychedelic drugs, most notably LSD, by using novelty recording techniques, electronic instruments or effects), and surf rock (a subgenre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly as found in Southern California). They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums and 7 singles.
