Anderson East (birth name Michael Cameron Anderson) was born in Athens (Alabama) in 1987 and is a singer, songwriter, and multi instrumentalist (guitar and piano). His musical style is best described as a blend of Southern rock (a subgenre of rock music that developed in the Southern United States from rock and roll, country music, and blues, and is focused generally on electric guitar and vocals), roots rock (a subgenre of rock music that takes inspiration from various American musical traditions such as country, blues, and folk), blue eyed soul (a term coined in the mid 1960s to describe white artists who performed soul and R&B that was similar to the music of the Motown and Stax record labels), soul, R&B, and gospel. He’s had a stellar career with 3 studio albums (one of which was a top 10 hit on Billboard's Folk Albums and Heatseekers Albums charts), 2 extended plays, 3 singles, 1 music video, and his work has been featured on the soundtrack of the 2017 film Fifty Shades Darker. He's also written songs and sung background vocals for country singer and songwriter Miranda Lambert.
