Atreyu, California's sensational metalcore artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Atreyu was formed in Orange County in 1998 by Brandon Saller (drums and vocals), Dan Jacobs (guitar), Chris Thomson (bass), Travis Miguel (guitar), and Alex Varkatzas (vocals). The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Alex, Dan, Brandon, Travis Miguel (rhythm/lead guitar), and Marc "Porter" McKnight (bass and backing vocals). Their musical style is best described as a blend of metalcore (a broad fusion genre of extreme metal and hardcore punk, noted for its use of breakdowns, which are slow, intense passages that are conducive to moshing), punk metal (a fusion of hardcore punk and thrash metal that came to prominence during the mid-'80s and featured bands that generally had more technique than the average hardcore outfit, but their riffs weren't quite as intricate as the average thrashers, and their song structures were often more straightforward), and alternative metal (a genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal). They’ve had a stellar career with 6 studio albums, 1 compilation album, 3 extended plays, 14 singles, and 15 music videos. Their latest album (In Our Wake) comes out in October 2018.
