Balance and Composure, Pennsylvania’s sensational alternative and indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
Balance and Composure was formed in Doylestown (Pennsylvania) in 2007 after the breakup of 2 local bands. The line up consists of Jon Simmons (vocals, guitar), Erik Petersen (guitar), Andy Slaymaker (guitar, backing vocals), Matt Warner (bass), and Bailey Van Ellis (drums, programming). Their musical style is similar to that of bands such as Title Fight, Brand New, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Neutral Milk Hotel. Regarding their influences, Jon said in an interview “When we tour with our friends, like Title Fight, they’re an inspiration on us like anybody that we look up to. I can’t think of any, like, younger bands right now but we like Ovlov a lot and they’re pretty young. We haven’t met them yet, but we’re inspired by a lot of things, and a lot of our friends. Manchester Orchestra was a huge inspiration for us, and Circa Survive as well. We take inspiration from everywhere and everything.” They’ve had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 6 extended plays, and 4 music videos. Their wrote their second album (The Things We Think We’re Missing) in a secluded cabin in just 2 weeks and it hit #10 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart. Their latest album (Light We Made) comes out in October 2016.
