Beach Fossils, New York’s sensational indie rock, indie pop, and lo fi artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Beach Fossils started off in Brooklyn in 2009 as a solo project of guitarist and vocalist Dustin Payseur. A year later, he recruited bassist John Pena, guitarist Christopher Burke, and drummer Zachary Cole Smith to turn the project into a band. The band’s been through many line up changes since then and it currently consists of Dustin, bassist Jack Doyle Smith, and guitarist Tommy Davidson. Over the years, their musical style has spanned the genres indie rock, shoegaze (a subgenre of indie rock and neo psychedelia, characterized by the blurring of component musical parts—typically significant guitar distortion, feedback and obscured vocals—into indistinguishable mixtures of sound), lo fi (a genre which grew primarily from American underground music scenes in the early 1980s and is associated with artists such as Sebadoh, Pavement, Liz Phair, and Beck), dream pop (a subgenre of alternative rock and neo psychedelia that was developed in the 1980s), indie pop, and surf rock (a subgenre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly as found in Southern California). They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 1 extended plays, and 4 singles.
