Big Boi (birth name Antwan André Patton) was born in Savannah (Georgia) in 1975 and is a rapper, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He's best known as one half of the hip hop duo Outkast and he began his solo career in 2010 with the release of his debut album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. It received widespread critical acclaim and hit #3 on three Billboard charts (US Billboard 200, Top R&B and Hip Hop Albums, and Top Rap Albums). His musical style is best described as Southern rap; a subgenre of hip hop that emerged in the Southern United States, especially in Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, and Miami, and is considered a third major American hip hop genre, after East Coast hip hop and West Coast hip hop. He's had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 1 mix tape, 1 extended play, 10 singles, and he's collaborated with Jay-Z, Killer Mike, Twista, Beyoncé, Sleepy Brown, and many other renowned artists. He's starred in many TV shows (Nick Cannon's Wild 'n Out, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and Chappelle's Show), films (AT, Idlewild, and Who's Your Caddy?), and he's also a playable character in the 3D fighting game, Def Jam: Icon.
