BoomBox, Alabama’s sensational electronic music artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!

BoomBox was formed in Muscle Shoals (Alabama) in 2004 by singer and songwriter Zion Godchaux (guitar and lead vocals) along with music producer Russ Randolph (sequencers, groove boxes, and turn tables). While their musical style can broadly be classified as electronic, it also features elements of various genres such as rock and roll, blues, funk, house, and psychedelic. Zion said in an interview, “I have trouble putting what we do musically into words. It’s dance music, but it’s rock and roll. Actually it’s just funky. It’s soul music. I end up just throwing a bunch of names around and never really dialing it in.” According to Russ, “We think of ourselves as a rock band, first and foremost, that happens to use electronic devices to create our music. We’re real rooted in house. But at the same time house falls into a sub-category of our rock ‘n’ roll approach.” They cite the genres Chicago House and San Francisco House, producers Johnny Fiasco and Miguel Migs, along with Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, and Townes Van Zandt as their main influences. They’ve had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 6 singles, and they’ve performed at many renowned festivals such as Wakarusa and the Hangout Music Festival.
