Boy and Bear, Australia’s sensational indie and folk music artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
Boy and Bear was formed in Syndey (New South Wales, Australia) in 2009 as singer, songwriter Dave Hosking’s side project. After one of his tracks became popular on local radio station Triple J, he recruited Killian Gavin (vocals, song-writing, guitar), Tim Hart (vocals, song-writing, drums), Jon Hart (keyboard, vocals, mandolin, banjo), and Jake Tarasenko (bass guitar) to turn the project into a full fledged band. They describe their musical style as “a combination of drivey indie folk and choral harmonies” and it wasn’t long before they got a record deal. They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 2 extended plays, and 9 singles. Their debut studio album (Moonfire) hit #2 on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums chart and was certified double Platinum down under. Both of their follow albums (Harlequin Dream, Limit of Love) topped the aforementioned chart with former being certified Gold in Australia. They’ve received numerous accolades including an Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) award for Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year and 5 ARIA awards for Breakthrough Artist – Single, Album of the Year, Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album, and Best Adult Alternative Release. They’ve also been nominated for 6 more ARIA awards.
