Cautious Clay, Ohio's sensational indie electronic artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Cautious Clay (birth name Josh Karpeh) was born in Cleveland (Ohio) and is a producer, singer, and songwriter. He began his musical journey by playing the flute and saxophone and in college, he took up music production. He said in an interview, "I was kind of fed up with the jazz [scene] and what people’s perspectives were. I really love the sentiment of jazz, and I always have, and a lot of my homies still play jazz. But I think the sentiment for me was always about creating music in its purest form...So when I said that my approach has always been unwavering, I think that’s to say I don’t really care about genre. I didn’t really care about what other people were creating unless it was inspiring to me." His musical style is best described as a blend of indie electronic (a sub genre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs), alternative R&B;, and pop. His breakthrough came in 2016 when his cover of Toro y Moi's 'So Many Details' started getting mainstream recognition and he followed it up with his debut single (Cold War) in mid-2017. He went on to have a stellar career with 1 extended play and 3 singles.
