Chicano Batman, California’s sensational alternative Latin artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
The band was formed in Los Angeles in 2008 and by Eduardo Arenas (bass, vocals), Bardo Martinez (lead vocals, organ, guitar), and Gabriel Villa (drums, percussion). They released their eponymous debut album a year later and added guitarist Carlos Arévalo to the line up. Influenced by various genres such as psychedelic soul (a genre that emerged in the late 1960s by soul musicians embracing elements of psychedelic rock, including its production techniques and drug influence), funk, indie, tropicalia (a style that merges Brazilian and African rhythms with rock and roll), rock, and oldies, they’ve created a musical style that’s described as a blend of alternative Latin or alterlatino (a brand of Latin rock music produced by combining genres like alternative rock, electronica, metal, new wave, pop rock, punk rock, reggae, and ska with traditional Ibero-American sounds) and neo psychedelia (a diverse style of music - originating in the 1970s as an outgrowth of the British post punk scene – that borrowed a variety of elements from 1960s psychedelic music and emphasized the cryptic margins of avant-rock, incorporating evanescent textures over an immutable bassline, producing a heavy metallic ambience). They’ve had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 1 extended play, and 3 singles.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to alternative Latin music!
