Cursive was formed in Omaha (Nebraska) in 1995 by guitarist and vocalist Tim Kasher, drummer Clint Schnase, bassist Matt Maginn, and guitarist Stephen Pederson. The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Tim, Matt, Clint, Ted Stevens (guitars and backing vocals), and touring musicians Patrick Newbery (trumpet, percussion, organ, piano, mini moog, keyboards, synthesizers, and other instruments) and Megan Seibe (cello). Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze), post rock (a form of experimental rock characterized by the influence and use of instruments commonly associated with rock music, but using rhythms not traditionally found in it), and post hardcore (a punk rock music genre that derives from hardcore punk but emphasises a greater degree of creative expression initially inspired by post punk and noise rock). They’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 1 compilation album, 6 extended plays, 8 singles, and 11 music videos.
