Dermot Kennedy, Ireland's sensational indie artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Dermot Kennedy was born in Dublin (Ireland) in 1992 and is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. His musical style is best described as a blend of indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegaze) and indie folk (a style that arose in the 1990s - among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music - and is characterized by a blend of acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation). He uses poetry and hip hop music as inspiration to add a unique rhythm and delivery to his style. He said in an interview, "I think reading poetry and listening to hip hop offer a lot of the same rewards. The good rappers are so honest, and in my opinion they deserve to be viewed as poets. Regardless of the form, though, I just feed off of anyone who's expressing themselves and sharing their feelings." He's had a stellar career with 2 extended plays and he's collaborated with Charlie Hugall (renowned songwriter who's worked with Låpsley and Florence + the Machine).
