Foxygen, California’s sensational indie rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
Foxygen was formed in Agoura Hills (California) in 2005 and is a duo consisting of Jonathan Rado and Sam France. They formed the band when they were both in high school and started making experimental music, influenced by genres such as psychedelia and avant-garde. They honed their craft for many years, self-releasing 4 extended plays between 2007 and 2011. They had a breakthrough when one of their extended plays made its way to Richard Swift; renowned music producer who’s worked with many notable bands and artists such as The Shins, Damien Jurado, Jessie Baylin, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Mynabirds, Wake Owl, Laetitia Sadier of Stereolab, Gardens and Villa, Cayucas, and Guster. He got them a record deal and they released their debut studio album (Take the Kids Off Broadway) in 2012. Their musical style has evolved over the years and it now spans the genres of psychedelic pop, garage rock, gospel, and baroque pop. They’ve also made a name for themselves with their deranged live performances and with the maniacal behavior of lead singer Sam. They’ve had a stellar career with 3 more studio albums, another extended play, and 9 singles. Their latest album (Hang) comes out in 2017.
Don’t miss your chance to see this classic rock based experimental duo who collaborate on warped, bedroom-recorded takes on pop masterpieces!
