Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad

Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, New York's sensational contemporary reggae artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!

Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad was formed in Rochester (New York) in 2004 by childhood friends Chris O'Brian, James Searl, and Matt O'Brian teaming up with local guitarist Dylan Savage. Their musical style is best described as a blend of contemporary reggae (a genre - lying somewhere between reggae and pop reggae - that adheres to many of the traditions developed by the reggae trailblazers of the 1970s, but uses slick, professional production techniques that mark the recordings as products of their time), roots reggae (a sub genre of reggae with lyrical themes of spirituality and religion, poverty, black pride, social issues, resistance to government and racial oppression, and repatriation to Africa), reggae pop (a genre that has its foundation in reggae but the music is tempered with strong, melodic hooks, commercial production, and a crossover sensibility), Americana, and dub (a style that grew out of reggae in the 1960s and consists predominantly of instrumental remixes of existing recordings that are created by significantly manipulating and reshaping the recordings, usually by removing the vocals from an existing music piece, and emphasizing the drum and bass parts). They’ve had a stellar career with 6 studio albums and 2 live albums.
