Goldfish, South Africa’s sensational electronica and dance music artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
The band was formed in Cape Town in 2005 by jazz musicians and college students Dominic Peters (production, instruments) and David Poole (production, instruments, vocals). They made a name for themselves with their debut album Caught in the Loop and it led to them being the opening act for renowned artists such as Fat Boy Slim, Mr Scruff, Audio Bullys, Stereo MC's, Basement Jaxx, Faithless, Paul van Dyk, and Pete Tong. Their musical style spans genres such as electronica, trip hop, downtempo, nu jazz, electro swing. Their brand of dance music includes elements of jazz and African music and distinguishes itself by blending live instruments like double bass, saxophones, keyboards, flute, and vocals with samplers, effects and synths. They’ve had a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 1 remix album, 17 singles, and they’ve remixed tracks by Alle Farben, Wyclef Jean, Avicii, and Lexer. They’ve also performed at many major music events such as the Glastonbury Festival, Ultra Music Festival, and South by Southwest (SXSW). They’ve received many accolades including 3 South African Music Awards (for Best Engineer, Best Dance Album, and Best Global Dance Album) and an MTV Africa Music Award for Best Pop Album.
