Half Alive, California's sensational indie pop artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!

Half Alive was formed in Long Beach (California) in 2016 by lead singer Josh Taylor, drummer Brett Kramer, and J Tyler Johnson. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie pop (a sub genre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music - with primary use of synthesizers and various electronic and pop musical instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of EDM genres in that songwriting is emphasized over danceability), and pop rock (a genre that originated in the 1950s, influenced by the beat, arrangements, and style of rock and roll but with a greater emphasis on professional songwriting and recording craft). They cite psychology and film as some of their influences and they're lyrical themes are often about anxiety and religion. They released their debut extended play (titled 3) in early 2017 and it wasn't long before it got 6 million streams on Spotify. Their popularity grew even further with their 2018 single (Still Feel) getting favorable reviews in major media outlets such as Alternative Press and Rock Sound.
