Imelda May (birth name Imelda Mary Clabby) was born in Dublin (Ireland) in 1974 and is a singer, songwriter, TV presenter, and multi instrumentalist (she plays guitar, tambourine, bodhran, and bass guitar). Her musical style is best described as a blend of rockabilly (a genre that blends Western musical styles such as country with rhythm and blues, leading to what is considered classic rock and roll), soft rock, and indie rock (a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States and the United Kingdom in the 1980s, encapsulating the genres chamber pop, indie pop, lo fi, math rock, neo psychedelia, post punk revival, sadcore, and shoegazing). She’s had a stellar career with 5 studio albums (1 of which has been certified Gold in the UK), 8 music videos, and 10 singles.
