ionnalee, Sweden's sensational indie pop artist is bringing her signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
ionnalee (birth name Jonna Emily Lee) was born in Linköping (Sweden) in 1981 and is a singer, songwriter, record producer, multi-instrumentalist (guitar, piano, keyboards, drums, harmonica, and synthesizer) and visual director. While her musical style can be broadly classified as indie pop, it's best described as a blend of electro pop (a fusion of electronic music and pop music – that mainly uses synthesizers and various electronic/pop instruments - often with simple, catchy hooks and simple dance beats, but differing from those of EDM genres in that songwriting is emphasized over danceability) and folk pop (a genre consisting of folk songs with large, sweeping pop arrangements, or pop songs with intimate, acoustic based folk arrangements). She’s had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, live albums, compilation albums, 1 extended play, 15 singles, and she's collaborated/performed with many renowned artists such as music producer and artist Claes Björklund, British musician Jamie Irrepressible, Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp, and English singer-songwriter. T Ed Harcourt. She's received many accolades including a Grammis Award (for Innovator of the Year), a BBC Radio 6 Music award, a MTV O Music Award (for Digital Genius), and she's also performed at the South by Southwest festival. Her latest album (Remember the Future) comes out in May 2019.
