Kranium, Jamaica’s sensational reggae artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!

Kranium (birth name Kemar Donaldson) was born in Montego Bay (Jamaica) and is a singjay; a performer who uses the Jamaican style of reggae vocals, combining toasting and singing in an elastic format that encourages rhythmically compelling and texturally impressive vocal embellishments. He moved to Miami when he was teenager and was introduced to reggae by uncle/mentor, dancehall singer Screw Driver. His debut single (Nobody Has To Know) came out in 2013 (as an independent release) and it wasn’t long before the record companies came calling. His musical style can be best described as a blend of reggae (while sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term reggae more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady) and dancehall (an uptempo style of dance music derived from reggae, in which a DJ improvises lyrics over a recorded backing track or to the accompaniment of live musicians). In 2015, he joined Sean Paul and Wayne Wonder as one of the few reggae artists to get a record deal with a major label.

Don’t miss your chance to see this artist add a unique touch to reggae and dancehall music!
