Låpsley, England’s sensational alternative R&B;, ambient, and electronic music artists is bringing her signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
Låpsley (birth name Holly Lapsley Fletcher) was born in York (Yorkshire, England) in 1996 and she’s a singer, songwriter, and musician. For her stage name, she chose to use the Scandinavian character (Å) because of how it looked when written and because of her perceived ties with Scandinavia via her Scottish heritage. She grew up in Southport (Merseyside) and began her musical journey in 2013 as a member of a many local bands. That year she recorded her debut extended play (Monday) in her bedroom and put it up on Soundcloud. It was listened to over a million times and a year later, she made a name for herself by winning the One to Watch prize at Merseyside's GIT (Getintothis) Award. Her popularity grew even further when she performed at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2014. It wasn’t long before she got a record deal and she released her second extended play (Understudy) in early 2015. Her debut album (Long Way Home) came out in March 2016 and hit #32 on the UK Albums chart. She performed at the Lollapalooza music festival in July that year and was nominated for a 2016 NME Award for Best New Artist.
