Louis Cole, Los Angeles' sensational left-field pop artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Louis Cole is a songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist best known as one-half of the indie electronic/jazz funk duo Knower. He was introduced to music at an early age by his father (an amateur jazz piano and trumpet player) and he started playing the drums when he was 8 years old. He said in an interview, My dad used to play really cool music so I was always around good music. He made me something like a bassoon with cardboard and I was trying to make rubber band guitars and stuff. I always had music around me...I really liked Stevie Wonder. There was hammered dulcimer stuff—I think it was Celtic—that I was really into. It was a cassette tape that my mom played for me once. I just got really into it for some reason. I got really heavy into James Brown a few years after that. R&B; and Aretha Franklin, that era was really big for me. That was the first music that really impacted my whole life." He released his debut solo album (a blend of hard funk and soft pop, titled Time) in 2018 and he's also collaborated with many renowned artists such as Seal, Thundercat, keyboardist Dennis Hamm, and pianist Brad Mehldau.
