Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson was born in Ystad (Skåne, Sweden) and is a singer, songwriter, model, and multi-instrumentalist (piano, percussion, and autoharp). Her musical style is best described as a blend of indie pop (a sub-genre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), indie electronic (a sub-genre of alternative/indie rock with affinity for electronic music, using samplers, synthesizers, drum machines, and computer programs), and dream pop (a sub-genre of alternative rock and neo psychedelia characterized by breathy vocals, introspective or existential lyrics, and a focus on textures and moods rather than propulsive rock riffs). She cites Neil Young, the Shangri-Las, This Mortal Coil, the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, Leonard Cohen, and Beach House as her main influences. Her breakthrough came with her 2011 single 'I Follow Rivers' going Platinum in France, double Platinum in Belgium, and triple Platinum in Switzerland. She went on to have a stellar career with 4 studio albums, live albums, compilation albums, 3 extended plays, 21 singles, 16 music videos, and 2 Swedish Grammy Awards (for Best Album and Best Artist).
