Magic City Hippies, Florida's sensational indie pop/funk artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Magic City Hippies were formed (under the moniker Robby Hunter Band) in Miami (Florida) in 2013 singer, songwriter, and guitarist Robby Hunter, drummer Pat Howard, and bass player John Coughlin. It wasn't long before they started to make a name for themselves and they recruited 2 more members to expand the line-up. Their musical style's best described as a blend of indie pop (a sub-genre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), funk (a genre that originated in the mid 1960s when African American musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of soul music, jazz, and rhythm and blues), soul (a genre - emerging from African-American community in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s - that combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz), and hip hop. They've had a stellar career with 1 extended play, 2 singles, 2 studio albums, and they've performed at many major music festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and BottleRock.
