Mayer Hawthorne, Michigan’s sensational neo soul artist, is bringing you his signature sounds as he tours venues across the US and Canada.
Mayer Hawthorne (birth name Andrew Mayer Cohen) was born in Ann Arbor in 1979 and his stage name is a combination of his middle name and the name of the street he grew up on (Hawthorne Road). He cites Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson, Mike Terry, Barry White, Smokey Robinson, and the legendary song-writing and production trio of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Edward Holland Jr. as his influences. Besides being a singer, he’s also a producer, songwriter, arranger, audio engineer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist. He’s released 3 solo albums and his 2011 release (How Do You Do) was nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award in the Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package category. Aside from his solo work, he also performs and records in the groups Tuxedo and Jaded Incorporated.
