Poptone, a new band formed by Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins is bringing its signature show to the Paradise Rock Club!
Daniel Gaston Ash (a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Northampton, England) and Kevin Kevin Michael Dompe (a drummer, songwriter, composer also from Northampton) are best known as members (guitarist and drummer respectively) of the iconic rock band Bauhaus. Bauhaus is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of gothic rock (a subgenre of post punk that grew to become a separate genre with its darker music accompanied by introspective and romantic lyrics). They made a name for themselves with their dark image, gloomy sound, and a musical style that also included elements of dub, glam rock, psychedelia, and funk. Though the band’s career was short lived, it had a huge impact renowned acts such as Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Nitzer Ebb, Skinny Puppy, Jane's Addiction, Soundgarden, A Neon Rome, AFI, Hole, Interpol, My Chemical Romance, She Wants Revenge, Elliott Smith, the Dresden Dolls, the Flaming Lips, the Horrors, and many others. Bauhaus spawned two related bands led by Ash (Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets) and now Daniel, Kevin, and Diva Dompe (Kevin’s daughter) have come together to form Poptone.
Don’t miss your chance to see these artists play music from the Bauhaus, Tones on Tail and Love and Rockets catalogs—including Tones on Tail songs Go!, Happiness and Movement of Fear, and Bauhaus track Slice of Life!
