Railroad Earth

Railroad Earth, New Jersey’s sensational Americana and progressive bluegrass artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!

The band was formed in Still Water (New Jersey) in 2001 by Brian Ross. Taking the role of band manager, he recruited Todd Sheaffer (vocals, guitar, and song writing), Tim Carbone (violin and vocals), John Skehan (mandolin), Carey Harmon (drums and vocals), Dave Von Dollen (bass), and multi instrumentalist Andy Goessling. He named the band after the title of a short story (October in the Railroad Earth) by Jack Kerouac (an American novelist and poet of French Canadian descent who’s considered a literary iconoclast and, alongside William S. Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg, a pioneer of the Beat Generation). The band’s been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of Todd (guitar, harmonica, and vocals), Tim (violin, accordion, electric guitar, and vocals), John (mandolin, bouzouki, piano, and vocals), Andy (acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, dobro, mandolin, flute, pennywhistle, bass clarinet, percussion, clarinet, lap steel, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, and vocals), Carey (drums, hand percussion, and vocals), and Andrew Altman (bass and vocals). Their musical style blends elements of bluegrass, rock and roll, jazz, celtic (and many more) and they’ve had a stellar career with 7 studio albums.
