Rüfüs du Sol (aka Rüfüs) was formed in Sydney in 2010 by Tyrone Lindqvist (vocals, guitar), Jon George (keyboards), and James Hunt (drums). They released their eponymous debut EP in January 2011 and followed it up with their debut single in July of the same year. Their second extended play (RÜFÜS EP - Blue) came out in April 2012 and their second single (This Summer) followed in July the same year. They kept honing their craft over the year and it paid off with their 2013 debut album (Atlas) hitting #1 on both the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) chart and Australian Independent Record (AIR) chart. They released 2 more extended plays in 2014 (Desert Night EP, Desert Night – Remix EP) and their latest album (Bloom) came out in January 2016 (it was also a chart topper on both of the aforementioned charts). Both their albums have been certified Gold by the ARIA and their 2015 single (You Were Right) achieved Platinum status. It also won the 2015 ARIA Music Award for Best Dance Release and Atlas won the 2014 AIR Award for Best Independent Dance, Electronica Album. They’ve also been nominated for 4 other AIR Awards and 5 more ARIA Music Awards.
