Sensational progressive metal supergroup Sons Of Apollo is bringing its signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Sons of Apollo was formed in 2017 by Mike Portnoy and Derek Sherinian (both of whom used to be in legendary progressive metal band Dream Theater). It currently consists of Jeff Scott Soto (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Talisman, ex-Journey, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-Axel Rudi Pell) – lead vocals, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (Art of Anarchy, ex-Guns N' Roses) – guitar, Billy Sheehan (The Winery Dogs, Mr. Big, ex-David Lee Roth) – bass, Derek Sherinian (Black Country Communion, Planet X (on hiatus), ex-Alice Cooper, ex-Platypus, ex-Yngwie Malmsteen, ex-Kiss) – keyboards, and Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, Neal Morse Band, ex-Adrenaline Mob, ex-Avenged Sevenfold) – drums. They released their much anticipated debut album (Psychotic Symphony) in late 2017 and even though they're billed as a progressive metal band, the album blends elements of other genres. Ron said in an interview, "I think it's Prog, it's not continuous every moment Prog, I think it's more... You know, there's a lot of classic stuff, there's like a classic rock, there's classic Prog there's classic old school-ish, maybe not old school but definitely some metal in there." The album was influenced by Deep Purple, Van Halen, and progressive rock supergroup U.K
