The Drums, New York's sensational indie pop and surf rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
The Drums were formed in Brooklyn in 2008 by Jonathan (Jonny) Pierce and Jacob Graham. Their musical style is best described as a blend of indie pop (a subgenre of alternative/indie rock originating in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and differing from indie rock to the extent that it’s more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst free), post punk revival (genre of alternative rock and indie rock that developed in the late 1990s and early 2000s, inspired by the original sounds and aesthetics of garage rock of the 1960s and new wave and post-punk of the 1980s), and surf rock (a subgenre of rock music associated with surf culture, particularly as found in Southern California). They cite the Beach Boys, The Wake, The Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, The Tough Alliance, The Legends, The Shangri-las, Starflyer 59, Joy Electric, The Embassy, and Orange Juice as some of their main influences. They've had a stellar career with 4 studio albums, 2 extended plays, 14 singles, and 13 music videos. The band currently consists of Jonny (vocals) and touring members Danny Lee Allen, Johnny Aries, Tom Haslow, Rene Perez, Charles Russell Narwold, Myles Matheny, and Chris Stein.
