The Faint, Omaha’s sensational indie rock and new wave artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
The band was formed in 1995 in Omaha by Clark Baechle, Todd Fink (formerly Todd Baechle), and Joel Petersen. They initially called themselves Norman Bailer, got a recording contract with Saddle Creek Records, and released a few singles. Unfortunately, they they didn’t sell enough copies and the band had a few line-up changes and released their debut album (as The Faint) in 1998. The album was called Media and after its release, the band’s musical influence and style changed from mainly post-hardcore to new wave. Their next album (1999’s Blank-Wave Arcade) had a more dance and techno influenced sound and it quickly became an underground hit. The album’s dance beats, catchy keyboards, and an '80s-influenced sound were so popular they prompted the band to record a series of remixes on a limited-edition album (2000’s Blank-Wave Arcade Remixes). They released their 3rd album (Danse Macabre) a year later to critical acclaim and it quickly became one of Saddle Creek’s top selling titles. In 2008 the band parted ways with the record label and its line-up currently consists of Todd Fink (vocals, keyboards), Jacob Thiele (keyboards, backup vocals), Dapose (aka Michael Dappen on guitars), and Clark Baechle (drums, percussion)
