The Jesus and Mary Chain, Scotland's sensational indie rock and noise pop artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
The band was formed in East Kilbride (Scotland) in 1983 and it currently consists of Jim Reid (vocals and guitar), William Reid (guitar and vocals), Scott Von Ryper (guitar), Brian Young (drums), and Mark Crozer (bass). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as indie rock, noise pop (a subgenre of alternative rock - developed in the mid 1980s in the UK and US - that mixes dissonant noise or feedback, or both, with the melodic instrumentation and production elements more often found in pop music, making it more melodic than noise rock), post punk (a broad type of rock music that emerged from the punk movement of the 1970s, in which artists departed from the traditional garage rock template of punk to pursue a variety of avant garde sensibilities), and shoegaze (a subgenre of indie rock and neo psychedelia, characterized by the blurring of component musical parts—typically significant guitar distortion, feedback and obscured vocals—into indistinguishable mixtures of sound). They've had a stellar career with 7 studio albums, 2 live albums, 7 compilation albums, 2 video albums, 6 extended plays, and 21 singles.
Don't miss your chance to see the chaotic, noisy indie quartet that influenced many by blending the Beach Boys' sunny pop with the Velvet Underground's black-leather cool!
