The Undertones, Northern Ireland's sensational punk rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
The Undertones were formed in Derry (Northern Ireland) in 1974 by Feargal Sharkey (vocals), John O'Neill (rhythm guitar, vocals), Damian O'Neill (lead guitar, vocals), Michael Bradley (bass, vocals) and Billy Doherty (drums). Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as punk rock (a rock music genre - developed in the early to mid 1970s in the United States – that typically uses short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics), power pop (a style that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American rock music and typically incorporates a combination of musical devices such as strong melodies, clear vocals and crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements, and prominent guitar riffs), new wave (a genre of rock music that moved away from smooth blues and rock and roll sounds to create pop music that incorporated electronic and experimental music, mod, and disco), and pop punk (a fusion genre that typically combines fast punk rock tempos, power chord changes and loud, distorted electric guitars with pop influenced melodies and lyrical themes). They’ve had a stellar career with 6 studio albums, live albums, 11 compilation albums, and 19 singles. The band currently consists of John, Damian, Michael, Billy, Paul McLoone (lead vocals).
