Thirdstory, New York’s sensational R&B; and soul artists are bringing their signature sounds to Aztec Theater!
Thirdstory was formed in New York City in 2014 and consists of Elliott Skinner (from Texas) Texas), Ben Lusher (from Connecticut) and Richard Saunders (from Bermuda). The trio met at an event in New York, became friends, and Thirdstory was soon born. Ben said in an interview, “We all just got in a room together and had to sing something. We thought, ‘Damn, this is good!’”. The group made a name for itself on YouTube with their creative covers of hits such as I'm Not the Only One by Sam Smith, Style by Taylor Swift, One Last Time by Ariana Grande, and Talking Body by Tove Lo. After their cover of I’m Not The Only One (that now has over 2 million views), Sam Smith’s pianist contacted them to talk about working together. “Basically, Smith's people said they really liked what we did and they wanted to work with us” Ben said. The band rose to the occasion got to travel to Europe to hone its skills with Sam Smith’s team and other music producers. The band cites Marvin Gay, Amy Winehouse, and Crosby, Stills Nash and Young as its main influences.
