White Buffalo, California’s sensational Americana artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
White Buffalo is the project of singer and songwriter Jake Smith. He was born in Los Angeles and grew up listening to punk bands like the Descendents and the Circle Jerks. He began his musical journey by learning guitar at age 19 and started to write and perform his own songs during his college years in the Bay Area. He adopted the moniker the White Buffalo after he drew it out of a hat filled with stage name suggestions given by his friends. He released his debut album (Hogtied Like a Rodeo) in 2002, followed by his eponymous EP which is about “relationships, love, loss and booze with a little murder mixed in.” His 2012 album (Once Upon a Time in the West) made it into several Americana charts and his 2013 release (Shadows, Greys and Evil Ways) was critically acclaimed. The White Buffalo is also a relentless touring machine that’s performed both nationally and internationally with acts like Ryan Bingham, Donavan Frankenreiter, Gomez, Xavier Rudd, State Radio, Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, among many others. He’s also played at the 2011 Bonnaroo Music Festival and his songs have featured on FX's hit show Sons of Anarchy and Showtime's Californication.
Don’t miss your chance to see this artist's bittersweet, organic Americana stylings that recall the hard touring (and hard drinking) of artists like Waylon Jennings and Townes Van Zandt!
