White Denim was formed in Austin (Texas) in 2005 by vocalist/guitarist James Petralli, bassist Steve Terebecki, and drummer Josh Block. The band's been through a few line up changes over the years and it currently consists of James (vocals and guitar), Conrad Choucroun (drums), Steve (vocals and bass), and
Michael Hunter (keyboards). While their musical style can be broadly classified as indie rock, it's best described as a blend of neo-psychedelia (a diverse style of music - originating in the 1970s as an outgrowth of the British post punk scene – that borrowed a variety of elements from 1960s psychedelic music and emphasized the cryptic margins of avant-rock, incorporating evanescent textures over an immutable bassline, producing a heavy metallic ambience), garage rock, progressive rock, Southern rock, and experimental rock. They’ve had a stellar career with 8 studio albums (2 of which were top 5 hits on Billboard's Top Heatseekers Albums chart), 1 live album, 4 extended plays, 18 singles, 1 split album (with Maps and Atlases), 8 music videos, and they've performed at many major music events such as South by South West Festival, CMJ Music Marathon, and Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
