Sensational progressive bluegrass and country jam bands Yonder Mountain String Band and Pert Near Sandstone are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
Yonder Mountain String Band was formed in Nederland (Colorado) in 1998 and currently consists of Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), Dave Johnston (banjo, vocals), Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Allie Kral (fiddle, vocals), and Jake Joliff (mandolin, vocals). They’ve had a stellar career with 11 studio albums of which 7 have landed in the top 10 of Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart. From 1999 to 2001 they’ve consistently performed at The Nederland Music and Arts Festival (aka NedFest); an annual three-day outdoor music, arts and microbrew festival with camping located in the mountains of Nederland. Their cover of the Beatles’ song Think for Yourself was included on the album This Bird Has Flown – A 40th Anniversary Tribute to the Beatles' Rubber Soul and they’ve also performed at the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver. Pert Near Sandstone was formed in Minneapolis (Minnesota) in 2004 and has had a stellar career with 6 studio albums. They’ve also performed with many renowned artists such as Ralph Stanley, Del McCoury, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, Wilco, and also with the Yonder Mountain Stringband. Their cover of the Beatles song I Am the Walrus from the 2010 album Minnesota Beatle Project (Volume 2) was critically acclaimed.
