Death From Above 1979, Canada's sensational punk rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Death From Above 1979 was formed in Toronto (Ontario) in 2001 by Jesse F. Keeler (bass, synthesizer, and backing vocals) and Sebastien Grainger (drums) vocals. They initially called themselves Death From Above but had to add the '1979' after a legal issue with dance music label DFA Records. Their musical style is best described as a blend of punk rock (a rock music genre - developed in the early to mid-1970s in the United States – that typically uses short or fast paced songs, with hard edged melodies and singing styles, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti establishment lyrics), dance punk (a genre - closely associated with the post punk and new wave movements - that emerged in the late 1970s and is characterized by punk music with a more rhythmic tempo which made it easier to dance to), and noise punk (a diverse style of experimental rock - originating from punk rock in the 1980s - that features extreme levels of distortion through the use of electric guitars, and less frequently, electronic instrumentation, either to provide percussive sounds or to contribute to the overall arrangement). They've had a stellar career with 3 studio albums, 1 remix album, 1 live album, 2 extended plays, 7 singles, and 9 music videos.
Don't miss your chance to see these artists add a unique touch to punk rock, dance punk, and noise punk music!
