Hippo Campus, Minnesota’s sensational indie rock and pop rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!

The band was formed in St. Paul (Minnesota) in 2013 by Jake Luppen aka Turntan (lead vocals and guitar), Nathan Stocker aka Stitches (guitar and backing vocals), Zach Sutton aka Espo (bass), and Whistler Allen aka Beans (drums and backing vocals). They met at the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists and quickly made a name for themselves on the local music scene with their high energy performances. Stitches explained the story behind the band’s name in an interview: “I was in psychology class, and we were reading about the brain. About the good ol’ B, and came across that fantastic word, hippocampus. It’s the memory center of the brain. Figured it’d be cool if it was split into two words, double entendre sort of thing, and just rolled with it.” It wasn’t long before they got the attention of the management team behind fellow Minnesotan bands Trampled by Turtles and Low and it eventually led to a record deal. They released their debut extended play (Bashful Creatures) in 2014 and followed it up with another one (South) a year later. They’ve also performed at the South By Southwest music festival and their debut studio album (Landmark) comes out in 2017.

Don’t miss your chance to see these artists deliver angular and melodic guitar driven pop!
