Sensational electrofunk artists Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Strange Machines are bringing their signature sounds to Paradise Rock Club!
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong was formed in Baltimore in 2009 and is a funk band consisting of Greg Ormont (vocals, guitar), Jeremy Schon (guitar, vocals), Ben Carrey (bass, vocals), and Alex Petropulos (drums). They released their debut extended play (titled Funk) in 2010 and their debut studio album (Psychology) came out in 2014. Their musical style can be best described as a high energy blend of funk, rock, electronica, and jazz. They’ve been included in the line up of Domefestival every year since 2009 and their latest album (Pleasure) features electro-funky dance grooves, soaring guitar riffs, slap-happy bass and in-your-face vocals. Strange Machines was formed in Boston in 2011 and is a progressive electrofunk, rock, and jam band consisting of Mike MacDonald (guitar, vocals), Christian Perron (keys), Isaac Civitello (drums, vocals), and Craig Holland (bass). Their musical style fuses genres such as rock, funk, livetronica, reggae, metal, and jazz. They’ve been the opening act for many renowned acts like Dopapod, Deep Banana Blackout, Turkuaz, John Brown’s Body, Lotus, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Lettuce, Consider The Source, Spiritual Rez, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Aqueous and more. They’ve released 2 extended plays; Cause and Effect: A Live Compilation and Turn The Tide.
