Quicksand, New York’s sensational post hardcore artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Quicksand was formed in New York City in 1990 by singer and guitarist Walter Schreifels, guitarist Tom Capone, bassist Sergio Vega, and drummer Alan Cage. Over the years, their musical style has spanned many genres such as post hardcore (a subgenre of hardcore punk music that maintains its aggression and intensity, but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression), heavy metal (a subgenre of rock that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s and features a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness), alternative metal (a genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres not normally associated with metal), and progressive rock (a broad subgenre of rock music that grew out of psychedelic bands who abandoned standard traditions in favour of instrumentation and compositional techniques more frequently associated with jazz, folk or classical music). They’ve had a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 1 extended play, 8 singles, and 6 music videos. Their music has also been featured on the soundtrack of the 1995 film Empire Records and on the compilation albums CBGB 20th Anniversary Compilation, Hit Me: The Island Summer Sampler, Hits Rock – New Sckoool, Volume I, and Revelation 100: A 15 Year Retrospective.
