Tricky, England's sensational trip hop artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Paradise Rock Club!
Tricky (birth name Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws) was born in Bristol (England) in 1968 and is a vocalist, record producer, multi instrumentalist (keyboards and harmonica), and actor. While his musical style can be broadly classified as trip hop (a sub genre of electronic music that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, as an experimental variant of breakbeat), it also includes elements of experimental hip hop (a genre - also known as abstract hip hop and typically believed to have originated during hip hop's “golden age” - that employs structural elements typically considered unconventional in traditional hip hop music), alternative rock (a style of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1980s and became widely popular in the 1990s), and ragga (a sub genre of dancehall and reggae music, in which the instrumentation primarily consists of electronic music). He's best known for his work with British trip hop group Massive Attack and he's also had a stellar solo career with 13 studio albums and many singles. He's collaborated with Terry Hall, Björk, Gravediggaz, Grace Jones, PJ Harvey, and many other renowned artists.
